1. What is Dating?
Dating is an online people finder that helps you seek and connect with the kind of people you like. You can hunt for people depending on their location, sex, and so on. Friend, cyber pal, online buddy, e-mail acquaintance, lovers, short or long-term partners - you can find them all at Dating.
2. Do I have to be a member to use Dating?
Yes and no. You can take a look at what Dating offers before you sign up. However, access to all parts of Dating comes with registration.
Information at Dating is doled out in three stages. In the first stage, or Free Search, you can specify the kind of person you are looking for and get the handle and a brief description of the people who match your search.
In order to send mail to or communicate with these people, you need to register yourself at Dating.
You can search for people in the gender, age group, country, city or state of your choice and read their profiles.
If you come across someone you would like to send mail to, all you have to do is log in with your User ID and password (if you have not logged in already). Doing so will let you send them mail and receive mail from them.
3. Do I have to pay to use Dating?
No. Registration to and use of Dating is absolutely free - all it costs is a few minutes of your time
4. How do I register?
Before you start the registration process, choose a handle - the cool name by which you want other Dating users to know you. Go to the Dating login page (http://dating.indya.com/index.asp). See the link there that says "Register here"? Click on this link, fill in the information asked for and click on "Submit".
That's all it takes! Once you're aboard, you'll need to remember your User ID and password in order to access your Dating account. However your ad on Dating will appear with the handle you have chosen, rather than your User ID.
5. I already have an User ID. But I have been asked to fill in my details again. Why?
The details that you have been asked for are the ones that are relevant to your Dating profile. The details you will submit the second time will be used as parameters of search. So, to enable us to provide you with better results, please do humour us and fill in these details.
6. What if I forget my password?
Relax. Just go to the Dating login page (http://dating.indya.com/index.asp) and click on the link that says "Forgot Password?". Fill in your details and submit them. Dating will mail your password to the e-Mail ID you specified while registering with us.
7. How do I create a profile?
You need to be a registered member of Indya.com in order to create a profile. Log in to Dating and click on the link that says "Create profile" on your Welcome Message page.
Fill in the details asked for - and remember that it's compulsory to provide the details against which there's an asterisk (*). Submit your ad.
If you've registered in a hurry, and have not really thought much about your ad, or if you decide it isn't nice enough, you can always go back and edit your profile later, via the "My Dating profile" link on top of the page.
But remember, you can only edit your profile, not your handle. So do choose your handle with care!
8. Can I upload my photograph?
Not at present. But we are working on it and you will soon be able to do so. So, watch out for that addition.
9. Is there a code of conduct for Dating?
At Dating, we hate rules as much as you do. But there are some things we are particular about - and we hope you'll humour us:
a) You have to be over 18 to sign on to Dating.
b) You cannot choose a handle, post a profile or send messages that offend the sensibilities of other Dating users.
Remember - it's in your hands to build a vibrant, healthy community online.
10. Can I get my Dating mail in my e-Mail account?
At Dating, we respect the fact that you might want to be identified solely by your handle. Therefore, any mail that you get at Dating is sent solely to your Dating Inbox, and not to your e-Mail ID.
11. I have registered and posted my profile, but it does not show up when I conduct a search.
You cannot log in as yourself and search for your profile. In order to be able to see your handle in the search results page, you need to log in with a different ID.
And if you do want to see/edit your own profile, you can always go to the My Dating Profile page. It doesn't matter if you don't change anything - you can always view your profile and return without making any changes.
12. Will other Dating users see my e-Mail ID?
No. Your e-Mail ID is known only to the Dating system and not to anyone else. To all the users of Dating, you will be known solely by the handle you register. This, of course, is assuming you do not specify you e-Mail ID elsewhere in your ad.
13. How do I report abuse?
If you have had a bad experience with Dating, do write to us via the feedback link on the left navbar of this page. After all, we rely on your feedback to make Dating a better place to connect online.
14. This page has not answered my questions - where do I go?
If you're still stuck, use our feedback link and let us know what problem you are facing. We'll help you tide over it.
And that's not all. If you have suggestions which you think might help improve the quality of Dating, do send them to us.
